04 Jan '08 FSM New Secretary

Feline Society of Malaysia would like to express our Thank You to Mr. Rick Low for his contributions to the Club. Its really hard to accept the resignation of a very hardworking person such like him. However, with respect to his decision due to his tight schedule time and work, FSM would like to wish him all the best for his future undertakings.

Therefore, FSM hereby would like to announce the new FSM Secretary, Mr. Nor Arisham Bakar to take over the position effective on 05th January, 2008, as power given by the constitution to the EXCOs.

Feline Society of Malaysia and Borneo Cat Club with the co-operation of The Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA), the largest registry of pedigree cats in the world, which is based in New Jersey, United States, is organizing the biggest cat show in Asia which will be known as Malaysia International Cat Show (MyCATS’07) scheduled for 23-25 November, 2007 in MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre, Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur.

MyCATS’07 is supported by Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Federal Territory and Kuala Lumpur City Council (DBKL) and will be one of the events for Visit Malaysia Year 2007. We are very much honored as YBHG Datin Seri Siti Nooriah Ana Ab Razak, the wife of YB Dato’ Seri Zulhasnan Rafique, Federal Territory Minister is the patron for the event.

Our main sponsors for the event are Royal Canin (the leading premium pet food in the world) and Warisan Ad.

MyCATS’07 will comprise of 8 ring show, Best of The Best Competition, Junior Showmanship Program and Feline Agility Contest. It will be considered as the biggest cat show in Asia. There will be eight different judges from United States, Europe & Australia to judge all the cats entered according to their breed standard. Among the cat breed that will compete in the show include Persian, Exotic, Maine Coon, Sphynx, Siberian, Norwegian Forest, British Shorthair, American Shorthair, American Curl, Siamese, Selkirk Rex, Cornish Rex, Birman, Ragdoll, Oriental Shorthair, Abyssinian, Somali, European Burmese, Scottish Fold, Russian Blue and not to forget our local domestic cat.

We have more than 200 cats to participate in this show which shall include local and foreign exhibitors from United States, Europe, Russia, Latvia, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Brunei and Indonesia.

FSM would like to congratulate Seoul Cat Club (South Korea) for being accepted by CFA as CFA affliated club in Asia/Latin America Division.

FSM has done the final draft of Meow Newsletter (FSM Newsletter), all members should received it very soon.

To make sure we have a very smooth MyCATS'07 Show, FSM will need as many hands as its can get.

FSM lunch its new MyCATS'07 Posters. All poster will be available for distributions and billboards soon!

Royal Canin together with FSM have organized Royal Canin Nutritional Talk. The talk main priority is to introduced Royal Canin new packaging and new products. The speakers, Phillipe and Christine also make sure the breeders and cat fanciers get to know wish product best to fit their cats needs. The audience also presented with last year Cat Minster video.

FSM together with Kuala Lumpur Municipal Council (DBKL) together with Klinik Kembiri will running a Neuter & Release Project. Where, strays will be caught, neuter and release. This will ensure the limitation of the strays populations and save many cats life. Members/public that interested to join us are most welcome. Even though FSM is using internet as its main media, we know there are nothing more convenience then reading your club news by having a cup of coffee. Therefore, FSM will publish its first newsletter soon. Members with email can have the newsletter through their email (in PDF Format) while members without email, will have their Newsletter post.
